Town of Sergiev Posad

One day (9-10 hours) tour to provincial town of Sergiev Posad located in 70 km to the north-east from Moscow. Sergiev Posad (Soviet name Zagorsk) originated from small villages of the 14th century around a local monastery and was given the status of a town in 1742. The town developed as the pilgrimage and toy-making center of Russia.

Visiting the Museum of Toys and attending master class – making your own design matreshka doll. The Toy Museum has collection of Russian national toys of different regions made of wood, clay, textiles, straw; personal authentic toys of the kids of Nicolas II (last Russian Emperor), toys of the Soviet period.
Lunch in the town.
Visiting the Trinity Monastery of St Sergius of Radonezg (1 hour tour).

Monday – Sunday 5 a.m. – 8 p.m.
 
Tours are conducted daily 9 am – 5 pm and should be assisted by a local guide from the pilgrimage center.
Fee for 1 hour guided tour 1-5 people:
2250 rub in Russian with translation
2500 rub in English / other foreign language.

By commuter train (1,5 hours) from Yaroslavl Train station (Moscow) to Sergiev Posad and back.
By car 1,5 -2,5 hour drive from the hotel to Sergiev Posad and back.
